The NS (Name Server) records of a domain name show which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. Essentially, the zone is the selection of all records for the domain name, so when you open a URL in a browser, your laptop or computer asks the DNS servers around the globe where the domain name is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain must be retrieved. This way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain is so that the latter is mapped to an IP and the web site content is required from the proper location, a mail relay server finds out which server deals with the e-mails for the domain name (MX record) to ensure a message can be sent to the right mailbox, and so on. Any change of these sub-records is conducted through the company whose name servers are used, so you can keep the web hosting and change only your email provider for instance. Every domain address has a minimum of 2 NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix like NS or DNS.

NS Records in Website Hosting

If you register a domain name within a website hosting account from our company, you're going to be able to control its name servers easily. This is done using the Registered Domains section of the in-house built Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and with just a couple of mouse clicks you'll be able to update the NS records of one or even several domain addresses at a time, which will save you a lot of time and efforts if you have a large number of domain addresses that you would like to direct to another service provider. You can enter numerous name servers depending on how many the other company provides you with. In addition we allow you to create private name servers for every single domain address registered through our company and unlike many other companies we don't charge anything extra for this service. The newly created NS records can be used to forward any other domain address to the hosting platform of the provider whose IP addresses you have used during the process, so each time you use our IPs for example, all domains added to the account on our end can use these name servers.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you register a new domain name in a semi-dedicated server account or transfer an existing one from another registrar company, you're going to be able to update its NS records as required without any troubles even if you haven't had a domain of your own before. The process takes a few clicks in Hepsia - the user-friendly control tool, provided with our semi-dedicated packages. If you have a number of domain addresses inside the account, you are going to be able to update all of them at the same time, which will save you a great deal of time and clicks. You can also see with ease the name servers which a domain address uses and if they're the right ones or not for the domain name to be directed to the account that you have got on our innovative cloud web hosting platform. Hepsia will even permit you to create private name servers under any domain address registered within the account and use them not only for that domain, but also for any other one that you wish to direct to our cloud platform.
